The FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO™ trophy has a brand new look

  • The Grand Prix’s official race winner’s trophy has been redesigned: the new look silver structure has a green base made from the Mexican mineral aventurine.
The FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2018™, Heineken and Mexican silver house TANE, join together to put Mexican culture in the spotlight through the design of the official race trophy. This year’s trophies have been redesigned: the silver structure sits on a green quartz base, known as aventurine, and a delicate plaque, also made in Mexican silver, with Heineken’s logo adorns the base. “We are very pleased that Heineken has joined the incredible effort to make this unique piece, the international reputation of their brand gives an additional recognition to the trophy and also continues to put the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2018 on a global stage”, commented Rodrigo Sánchez Peraza, Director of Marketing, Media and Public Relations of the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2018™. “We are very proud to support Mexican talent and national designs. Through our work with Mexican silver house TANE, the quality of national products and the creativity of our craftsmen stand out throughout the world”, he added. The green quartz base, or aventurine is a stone that symbolizes decision. It promotes compassion, perseverance and enhances creativity. Its particular green hue, not only invokes one of the three Mexican national colours but the emblematic colour of Heineken. The lines made in silver represent the strength and speed of the eagle, the centerpiece of the Mexican national emblem. These elements combine to create a trophy that symbolizes leadership and prosperity, while promoting and positioning the quality of Mexican made products at an international level. Hans Erik Tuijt, Global Sponsorship Director for Heineken, said; “It is an honour to present the official trophy of the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2018. The eye catching design represents the high quality that Heineken is synonymous with around the world. The trophy also embodies our 'More than a Race' philosophy through which we demonstrate that F1 is not just about what happens on the track, it’s about fan experiences throughout the race weekend.” While Ricardo Domingo, Creative Director of TANE, said that for the silver company, “it is a unique opportunity to participate in the race to share with the world the contemporary design, the wonderful work of Mexican artisans and the wealth of minerals found in the country, especially that from top quality silver.” Fans around the world are waiting to see who will take this precious trophy home by winning the award-winning Mexican Grand Prix – which will take place on October 26, 27 and 28 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
