Mexico GP Implements COVID-19 Health Protocol and Invites Attendees to Enjoy a Safe Experience
- To be allowed at the track, all attendees will be required to show, in addition to their ticket, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR or antigen test result issued by a private laboratory
- The organizing committee asks fans to observe the health protocol during the event and not to let their guard down to contribute to the decline in the number of cases
The 2021 FORMULA 1 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX Presented by Heineken will implement a health protocol that includes a number of measures in addition to those established by the government of Mexico City, aimed at enhancing the protection of the health of all attendees to the event scheduled for November 5-7, 2021, at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
The actions to be implemented to promote the health and safety of the audience -- which will be compulsory in order to be allowed at the venue -- include but are not limited to the requirement for all attendees to show official proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR or antigen test issued by an authorised Mexican or foreign private laboratory, and wear a mask at all times.
“We want to recognize the work done by the government of Mexico City and its success in implementing measures to address the pandemic, as well as the progress achieved by the capital’s vaccination plan, which is estimated to reach nearly 100% of the city’s adult population by the time the México GP takes place. Based on this scenario, and with the approval of the authorities, a joint decision was made to proceed with the event, through the implementation of a health protocol designed to boost safety in all areas of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez,” said Federico González, Director of the FORMULA 1 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX Presented by Heineken.
“We want to thank the fans for their support of the México GP. Their response to the event has been essential as we work on preparing the 2021 edition. Multiple health measures will be in place to provide a safe experience for all attendees. We invite the fans to comply with the protocol and ask everyone to continue taking care so that we can maintain a decline in the number of cases in the city,” González added.
Below are the actions that have been established by CIE:
- To be allowed at the track, attendees must be at least 4 years of age, and everyone must have their own ticket, as only one person per seat will be allowed in the grandstands.
- To enter the venue, and regardless of age, it will be indispensable for attendees to have a ticket and carry official proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative PCR or antigen test result issued by an authorised private laboratory no more than 3 days prior to the time they enter the venue. In addition, attendees will be required to show a valid, government-issued photo ID, the name on which must match the name on the COVID-19 test or vaccination certificate. Minors may show any photo ID issued by a public or private entity (or a copy of their birth certificate along with one of their accompanying parents’ valid, government-issued photo ID), provided the name on the minor’s ID matches the name on the test result or vaccination certificate (if applicable). Vaccination certificates and test results issued by authorised entities from foreign countries will be accepted. (Annex A shows an access schedule designed to ensure test results are within the 3-day validity window).
- At the venue entrances, a fast queuing system will be implemented (F1 Fast Pass) for attendees who pre-register at the México GP website (starting on October 1st) by uploading a digital file of their official COVID-19 full vaccination certificate, issued by an authorised Mexican or foreign entity, or a negative PCR or antigen test result issued by one of the race’s partner private laboratories, after which they will receive a certified access code for expedited access (The list of partner laboratories will be available starting on October 1st. See Annex B for more information).
- Attendees who have not followed the pre-registration procedure (F1 Fast Pass) must carry with them their official COVID-19 full vaccination certificate (depending on which vaccine they received) or negative PCR or antigen test result, either in hard copy or digital form, along with their entrance ticket and a valid, government-issued photo ID, the name on which must match the name on the test result.
- COVID-19 test results issued by non-partner private laboratories or by authorised laboratories in other countries will be allowed. However, they will not be accepted for the purposes of the F1 Fast Pass expedited queuing system.
- Use of masks for all attendees, including minors, will be compulsory at all times at the venue.
- 100% of the staff working at the venue during the event will be required to comply with the same access requirements as the fans, and will be subject to tests to ensure they are not infected with COVID-19. To ensure everyone’s protection, the organizers will provide the staff with new triple-layer masks on a daily basis.
- Attendees are asked to pack as lightly as possible or, alternatively, use transparent plastic bags to expedite security checks as they enter the venue. Please refer to the security rules on the following link.
- Health checkpoints will be set up at all venue entrances to check attendees’ temperature (on the understanding that those with a temperature higher than 37.5°C will be denied access) as well as their proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative antigen or PCR test result. Therefore, fans are advised to arrive at the track 3 hours ahead of the race. (Refer to Annex C).
- Ongoing disinfection processes will be implemented at the track, prior, during, and after the México GP. Public toilets will be cleaned constantly. In addition, handwashing stations and hand sanitiser dispensers will be available throughout the venue, which attendees are encouraged to use frequently.
- Signage will be posted at all entrances, as well as food and beverage areas, reminding the public to maintain a minimum recommended safe distance of 1.5 metres when queuing.
- Cashless payment systems will be used to avoid the need to handle cash, minimize interactions, and prevent congestion at food and beverage points of sale.
- To reduce interaction among attendees, the event will close earlier than in previous editions. This will include restrictions in the hours for the sale of alcoholic beverages. The race timetable will be announced later.
- It is strongly recommended that persons who are in a high-risk or vulnerable group refrain from attending the event. The same recommendation applies to those who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, have had contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, or have had symptoms compatible with COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to the time they enter the venue (without having been cleared as healthy or fully recovered). Persons who are in a vulnerable or high-risk group may apply for a refund of their entrance tickets between 27 September and 1 October, 2021, by contacting Ticketmaster directly.
Follow México GP’s official social media accounts or visit www.mexicogp.mx for updates or announcements regarding the health protocol.
The organizers urge fans to keep their guard up, observe all government guidelines to control the spread of coronavirus, and follow the health rules established for the México GP. Behaving properly during the event means protecting everyone’s health.
ANNEX A. COVID-19 TESTING SCHEDULE
To ensure their negative PCR or antigen test results (issued by an authorised Mexican or foreign private laboratory) are within the required 3-day validity window at the time they enter the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, fans must observe the following schedule:
If traveling from other cities in Mexico or other countries, attendees are advised, to the extent possible, to have their tests performed at their place of origin to arrive in Mexico City already with a negative result certificate, to ensure local laboratories are not overwhelmed. In addition, they are advised to schedule their test appointments well in advance to avoid potential delays.
Attendees will be provided with a wristband as proof that they have complied with all health checkpoint requirements. These wristbands will also be used to identify who is allowed at the event on each day, based on their COVID-19 test date or the fact that they have provided a full vaccination certificate.
ANNEX B. F1 FAST PASS
To expedite their access to the venue (F1 Fast Pass), attendees need to follow a pre-registration procedure on the CREAMEDIC platform, which will be accessible via the México GP web portal (mexicogp.mx) starting on October 1st. Below are the pre-registration steps:
- Access the application via the México GP portal URL.
- Click on “Register here”.
- In CREAMEDIC, you will need to create an individual account by entering your full name (exactly as it appears on your government-issued photo ID) and an email address, which will be used to send your electronic Fast Pass (the Fast Pass IS NOT a replacement for your ticket). You will need to agree to the platform’s terms of use.
- You will receive an email to confirm your CREAMEDIC account and complete your registration.
- Once you have created your account, you will be able to login to the platform. In “My registration” you will need to upload your photograph (using an image file format), with your face fully visible, passport-style, and taken with good lighting.
- To upload your official COVID-19 full vaccination certificate or negative PCR or antigen test result, the file must be in PDF format so it can be verified. The platform WILL NOT accept certificates or test results uploaded in image file formats (JPG, JPEG, among others). If you have your certificate or test result in hard copy, you must scan it and convert it to PDF before uploading it on the application.
- Once the full vaccination certificate or negative test result has been verified, you will have to wait for an email containing your F1 Fast Pass at the email address you provided during the registration step.
The list of partner private laboratories will be published on October 1st.
Negative COVID-19 test results issued by non-partner private laboratories will be accepted for access to the event. However, such test results must be presented in hard copy or digital form at the entrance, along with a valid, government-issued photo ID. Minors may show any photo ID issued by a public or private entity, provided the name on the ID matches the name on the negative test result.
Negative COVID-19 test results issued in Mexico will only be valid if the tests were performed at one of the private laboratories authorised by Mexico’s Health Ministry to conduct SARS CoV 2 tests. A list of authorised private laboratories in Mexico can be found here.
Negative test results issued by laboratories in other countries duly authorised by their respective health authorities will also be accepted. These test results may be presented in hard copy or digital form, along with a valid government-issued photo ID.
If they have their COVID-19 PCR or antigen tests performed at one of the private laboratories affiliated with CREAMEDIC, attendees will enjoy preferential pricing.
ANNEX C. ACCESS PROTOCOL
Fans entering the venue will be required to comply with the following access protocol, and are thus advised to arrive three hours ahead of the event:
- Certified access code scanning (for those who pre-registered).
- Temperature checks and compulsory use of masks.
- F1 Fast Pass scanning (for those who pre-registered) or inspection of COVID-19 full vaccination certificate or negative PCR or antigen test result issued by a private laboratory no more than 3 days prior to the event.
- “Health checkpoint” wristbands will be provided and must be worn by all attendees. (Different wristbands will be used for access identification on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
- Ticket scanning.
- Security screening.
- Use of hand sanitiser.
ANNEX D. PROTOCOL FOR DETECTION OF POTENTIALLY POSITIVE COVID-19 CASES
If a person at an entrance health checkpoint is found to have a temperature of more than 37.5ºC or has other visible symptoms compatible with COVID-19, the following protocol will be activated to safely handle potentially positive cases:
- The person will be ushered to an isolation area.
- There, their temperature will be re-checked and they will be examined by medical personnel, who may recommend that a COVID-19 antigen test be conducted.
- If the test result is positive, the person will be denied access to the event, Mexico City health authorities will be notified, and the person will be removed from the venue.
ANNEX E. FAN COMMITMENTS
The organizers of the 2021 FORMULA 1 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX Presented by Heineken invite all attendees to commit to protecting everyone’s health and to observe proper behaviour.
That is why fans are asked not to attend the event if they are in any of the following situations or have been in contact with anyone in these situations:
- During the 14 days prior to the event, they had a positive COVID-19 test result (or have had contact with someone who had a positive COVID-19 test result) without having been cleared as fully recovered, or if they have been exposed to someone who had a positive test result without having been cleared as healthy by medical personnel or laboratory tests.
- During the 48 hours prior to the event, they have had symptoms compatible with COVID-19 (for example, body temperature higher than 37.5ºC, cough, difficulty breathing, chills, repeated tremors, muscle pain or headaches, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, nasal congestion, nasal secretion, vomiting, diarrhoea, fatigue, or any other symptom linked to COVID-19), without COVID-19 having been ruled out by medical personnel or laboratory tests.
Once in the grandstands, attendees are invited to maintain exemplary behaviour, as has been the constant among our fans in previous years. Thus, they are advised to:
- Avoid discriminatory and homophobic chants and slurs. Let us be respectful of our drivers.
- Be tolerant, regardless of which team or driver you support. Say “no” to violence.
- Place all litter in the bins that will be available throughout the venue.
In addition, organizers urge fans not to let their guard down and to observe all recommendations issued by the government of Mexico City to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
