WORKS ON THE TRACK OF THE AUTODROMO HERMANOS RODRIGUEZ ARE JUST IN TIME AND WITH THE REQUIERED SPECIFICATIONS, CONFIRMS CHARLIE WHITING FORMULA 1® RACE DIRECTOR
This week, Charlie Whiting, FORMULA 1® Race Director, visited as part of the inspections regularly conducted by FIA (Federación Internacional del Automovilismo) at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
The safety officer, stated that five months away from the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015®, the works on the track are in time and with the required specifications for the return of the maximum category in motorsports to our country after 23 years of absence.
"I have walked the track and I could witness the progress and check all the areas where the safety barriers will be installed." Confirmed Charlie Whiting, FORMULA 1® Race Director.
Mexico has held 16 grand prix in two seasons, from 1962 to 1970 and from 1986 to 1992, being the British, Nigel Mansell, the last one getting on the podium in our country, together with the German, Michael Schumacher, who was achieving his first podium by then.
For the return of FORMULA 1® to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, some adjustments have been made to the legendary track, keeping its essence but complying with the new safety regulations set by FIA.
FORMULA 1® Race Director could also witness the tests made on the replacement of new “pianos” or “sinks”, which will be installed over three miles of the layout and the installation of drains.
Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento (CIE), as FORMULA 1® promoter in Mexico, requested the German Company Tilke, responsible for redesigning the track, keeping the track’s essence, complying with the safety regulations and reconfiguring the layout for a better and bigger show for the audience.
The circuit Hermanos Rodriguez will have 17 curves, 10 right and seven left, also one of the longest straight of the serial, 1,302 meters, where the top speed would reach the 328 kms/hr. Also, a small straight was created coming around the curve 6, best known as “Recorte Rebaque”, at the stadium Zone, as well as the tempered of the “eses” zone.
Another change that will increase the audience excitement was the creation of an “s” inside the Foro Sol, that will allow the audience to observe the cars a little longer crossing that area of the circuit. “The Foro Sol will be one of the most shocking zones for the drivers, a few race tracks have seats that close to the audience”, the German Nico Hülkenberg pointed last January when visited the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez together with his teammate Sergio “Checo” Perez, from Sahara Force India.
Visit and enjoy Mexico with the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015®.
